UNILAG halts admission into two important departments due to accreditation issues

University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced the cessation of admissions into its Biochemistry and Petroleum & Gas Engineering departments, the decision was conveyed in a statement signed by the registrar, Mrs. Olakunle Makinde.

Although the university did not provide specific reasons for this action but sources have gathered that the reason for the university not giving admission in the two departments it’s due to accreditation issues the departments are battling with, the university it has advised prospective students in a statement that there will be no intake for these programs starting from the 2024–2025 academic year.

“All prospective UTME and Direct Entry candidates for the 2024 admission should please note that the University of Lagos will not run two programmes namely: Biochemistry and Petroleum & Gas Engineering. “Hence, there will be no admission into the two programmes for the 2024/2025 academic session and until further notice.

“Candidates are hereby advised not to choose any of these programmes, and those who have done so should change to other programmes,” the statement read.
